Digital Currency Wallet & Exchange

Coinbase, based in San Francisco, is a digital currency wallet and platform that lets people exchange fiat currencies for Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash, Ethereum, and Litecoin. You can store multiple crypto currencies on their platform or buy and sell them at the market rate.

Coinbase also accompanied by GDAX, an exchange platform. Every coinbase user gains access to GDAX automatically, and can transfer funds from their coinbase wallets to their GDAX exchange account. It uses the same four currencies as coinbase: Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash, Ethereum, and Litecoin.


Coinbase exists primarily as a website where you can open an account, deposit fiat currency funds, and acquire digital currencies. Coinbase does currently have Apple iPhone and Android applications for mobile usage. GDAX is also primarily a website, and currently has no applications for iOS mobile or Android. Coinbase’s applications, fortunately, use the same prices as GDAX and are easy to use.


Coinbase and GDAX allow you to transact in four cryptocurrency markets (at the time of this writing): Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash, Ethereum, and Litecoin. Coinbase/GDAX operate in 32 nations.

The list of nations current consists of Australia, Austria, ​​Belgium, Bulgaria, Canada, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Malta, Monaco, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, San Marino, Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United States, and United Kingdom.


There are two basic Coinbase account types. The first is Personal/Individual, Family, and Household accounts. These are margin free and provide no leveraged trading. There is no minimum account balance for this account type.

You can trade up to 3x leverage using GDAX, if you meet the requirements. Requirements are trading for business, commercial, or investment opportunities only. You cannot be trading for personal, family, or household purposes. You must also qualify for the Commodity Exchange Act’s Section 1a(18).
